KyberCopy reaches your printers through a relay, a small agent running on a computer inside your network. Printers sit on private networks that nothing in the cloud can reach, so the relay is required before anything can print.
No firewall changes
The relay is outbound only. It dials out to KyberCopy over HTTPS and checks for work every ten seconds. KyberCopy never connects into your network. There is no port to forward, no inbound rule, and no VPN. Your printers stay exactly where they are.
Install a relay
You need a machine that stays on and can reach the printers, such as a print server. Allow about five minutes.
- Go to Copy room settings, Relays tab, and choose Add relay. Name it after where it sits, for example "Copy Room PC". One relay per site is enough.
- Pick the platform (Windows, Linux or macOS) and choose Download for that platform. The platform is guessed from your browser; check it matches the print server.
- Note the pairing code shown. It expires in 30 minutes and works once. Generate another if it runs out.
- Download the file onto your print server, run it, and type the code when it asks.
Within a minute the relay shows as Online on the Relays tab, with its machine name, system, agent version and last seen time.
Unattended or mass deployment
For imaging or a configuration manager where nobody is at the screen, expand Unattended or mass deployment on the Relays tab. It gives the commands in order: put the agent in a permanent folder, run the enroll command with the relay token (which does not expire), start it, run install-service so it survives a reboot, then run doctor to verify the connection, every printer, and the reboot setup. On Windows run the install as Administrator; on Linux it needs sudo.
Relay health
- Never connected. The code was never typed or the enroll command never ran.
- Online, with how many of its printers are reachable.
- Offline since a time. A relay that has not checked in for about 90 seconds is offline. The usual cause is a reboot on a machine where the service was never installed.
Each relay has Rename, New token and Remove. A new token stops the old one immediately; the relay stays offline until paired again. Removing a relay keeps its printers in KyberCopy, but they receive no work until assigned to another relay.
Then add printers on the Printers page and assign each to the relay. See Printer capabilities, supplies and silent substitutions.
