My printer shows offline or unhealthy

Open the Printers page. The line under the printer name says what is wrong. Work through the cases below.

"The relay cannot reach this printer"

The relay is running but could not contact the device. The rest of the message says which kind of failure it was:

• That address does not resolve. Check the printer's hostname or use its IP address.
• The printer answered but refused the connection. It is powered on. Check that IPP or port 9100 printing is enabled on the device.
• Nothing answered at that address. The printer is switched off, asleep, or on a network the relay cannot reach.
• The relay has no route to that address. The printer is on a different subnet or VLAN from the relay machine.
• The printer demanded a secure connection the relay could not complete. Check the ipps address and the device certificate.

Press Test on the printer card to ask the relay to try again now.

A device fault

If the relay can reach the printer, the line shows what the printer itself reports: Paper jam, Out of paper, Needs paper, Paper low, Out of toner, Toner low, Waste toner full, A cover is open, A door is open, A paper tray is missing, Output tray is full, Reported offline, Shut down, or Paused at the panel. Fix it at the machine. The relay checks each printer about every two minutes, so the line clears on its own.

"Waiting for a relay to read this printer's capabilities"

No relay has read the device yet, so it cannot accept jobs. Check the printer is assigned to a relay in its configuration and that the relay is online.

The relay itself is offline

If every printer on a relay is unreachable, check the relay on the Relays tab of Copy room settings.

1. Never connected: the pairing code was never typed or the enroll command was pasted without the whole token. Run kybercopy-relay doctor on that machine.
2. Offline since a time: it connected before and stopped. The usual cause is a reboot on a machine where the service was never installed. Run the install-service step from the install guide, then doctor.
3. Jobs sit in the queue and never print, but the relay is online: the agent cannot reach the printer. doctor checks every printer and says what to fix.

The Status tab in Copy room settings has a Relay connection and a Printers check you can run from the browser.
