Overview
Auto-Scheduled Classes let KyberClassroom automatically start and end class sessions based on your school's bell schedule and SIS roster. Instead of manually starting a class every period, KyberClassroom detects when a period begins, loads the right students, and activates your classroom tools.
Classes sync from Google Classroom, Clever, or ClassLink.
Prerequisites
- Teacher account in KyberClassroom
- At least one class roster synced from Google Classroom, Clever, or ClassLink
- Bell schedule configured by your IT administrator
- Auto-scheduling enabled (on by default for synced classes)
Steps
Step 1: Verify Your Class Roster
Log in to teachers.kybergate.com → My Classes → Verify each class shows the correct students. Synced classes show a Google/Clever/ClassLink icon.
Step 2: Map Classes to Periods
Go to My Classes → Schedule → For each class, select the corresponding bell schedule period → Save Schedule. (Auto-mapped for Google Classroom imports with period info.)
Step 3: Set Default Preferences
Go to Settings → Class Defaults to configure:
- Auto-enable screen monitoring?
- Default view (thumbnails, list, tabs)
- Auto-activate a Focus/Restrict preset?
- Welcome message to broadcast on start?
Step 4: Experience Auto-Start
When a period begins:
- KyberClassroom switches to the associated class
- Student devices are associated with the session
- Monitoring activates (if enabled)
- Welcome message sends (if configured)
- Default Focus/Restrict preset activates (if set)
Step 5: Experience Auto-End
When the period ends:
- The class session closes
- Focus/Restrict Mode, Overrides, and locks expire
- Chat history archives
- KyberClassroom switches to the next class
Step 6: Manual Override
You can always: start a class early, extend 15 minutes, switch classes, or end early.
Tips
- Keep SIS rosters up to date for best results
- Use the "Welcome message" to set expectations without repeating yourself
- Auto-start happens within 30 seconds of the period beginning
- Disable auto-scheduling per class under class → Settings → toggle off Auto-Schedule
FAQ
Q: What if my class isn't synced? A: Manually created classes must be started manually. Contact IT to set up SIS sync.
Q: What happens during substitute days? A: Auto-scheduling is tied to the class, not the teacher. Substitutes with KyberClassroom accounts see the same schedule.
Q: Can I have different defaults per class? A: Yes. Override global defaults under each class's settings.
Q: What if the bell schedule changes mid-day? A: Auto-scheduling immediately follows the new schedule.
