Understanding safety scores

The Parent Portal displays a safety score for each student. Here's how it's calculated.

Safety Score (0–100)

The safety score reflects how safe a student's recent browsing behavior has been. It starts at 100 and decreases when concerning activity is detected.

Factors That Lower the Score

  • Safety alerts triggered (self-harm, cyberbullying, violence keywords)
  • Frequent attempts to access blocked content
  • Attempts to bypass the filter
  • Visiting flagged categories repeatedly

Factors That Raise the Score

  • Time without incidents (score recovers over days)
  • Educational browsing patterns
  • Compliance with school policies

Score Ranges

  • 90–100 — Excellent. No concerns.
  • 70–89 — Good. Minor flagged activity.
  • 50–69 — Moderate. Review recommended.
  • Below 50 — Concerning. Active monitoring recommended.

Important Notes

The safety score is a tool for awareness, not a definitive assessment. It should be used alongside professional judgment and established safety protocols.
