Setting up campus IP detection

KyberGate can detect whether a device is on campus or off campus based on its public IP address.

Why It Matters

  • See at a glance which devices are at school vs. at home
  • Apply different policies for on-campus vs. off-campus (coming soon)
  • Reports show location context for each browsing event

Setting Up

  • Go to Settings > Network
  • In the "Campus IPs" section, enter your school's public IP address(es)
  • These are the IPs that your school's internet connection uses (not internal 192.168.x.x addresses)
  • Click Add for each IP

Finding Your School's Public IP

From any device on your school network, visit https://whatismyip.com. That's the IP to add.

How It Works

When a device connects through the proxy, KyberGate compares its IP to your campus IP list. If it matches, the device is tagged as "on-campus" in the dashboard and reports.
