Working the queue

The copy room queue is the Jobs page. It is called Print requests. It refreshes on its own, so a shared screen stays current.

Tabs

  • To review. Jobs waiting on a person: new requests and jobs on hold.
  • Printing. Everything released and in flight.
  • Printed today. Finished work.
  • All. Everything including failed jobs.

Jobs waiting on a department's budget holder do not appear here. They show on the Approvals page and on the teacher's own list.

Search, sort and filter

The search box takes a document name, a teacher's name, or a request number like K-0418. Press Escape to clear it.

The default order is urgent first, then by deadline, then oldest. Click the Document, Quantity, Due or Status headers to sort instead. Quantity sorts on total sheets when known.

Filter by Status or Printer using the filter menus. Jobs with no printer yet can be filtered for as "No printer yet".

Reading a row

Each row shows the request number, title, requester, copies, paper and sides chips, Staple or Hole punch chips, the deadline, and a status. Deadline warnings are Overdue, Due soon and Urgent. Use the expand toggle on a row to open its detail panel in place.

Acting on one job

Select a row to open the job detail. It shows the specs, any note from the requester, where it is going, and the paper tray. If the tray is below 25 percent, a warning says so before a long run.

  1. Print. The main button says Print with the copy and sheet count. Keyboard: P prints, arrow keys move between jobs.
  2. Print one to check first. In the menu beside Print, when your school has proof copies on and the job is above the sheet threshold. Sends one copy.
  3. Hold. Parks the job. A held job shows Release hold.
  4. Stop job. On a job that is printing.
  5. Reprint, Print cover sheet and Mark picked up on a finished job. Try again on a failed one.

Under Check before printing you can open each document, use Change settings to correct copies, sides, colour or staple if your school allows it, or choose Print by hand to take the job off automatic printing and mark it printed yourself. Show history lists everything that happened to the job.

Acting on several jobs

Tick the checkbox on each row, or use Select all. A selection bar appears with Print, Hold and Cancel. Only jobs in the right state are sent: Print applies to Ready and On hold jobs, Hold to Ready jobs, Cancel to Ready, On hold and Failed jobs. If a button shows a number, that is how many of your selection it will touch. Cancel asks you to slide to confirm; cancelled jobs leave the queue for good. Hold and Cancel offer an undo for a few seconds.
