Overview
The KyberGate Parent app lets parents and guardians monitor their child's school device activity and apply basic controls like pausing the internet or blocking specific websites. It bridges the gap between school and home, giving families visibility into how school-issued devices are being used.
The app is free for parents. Districts control which features are available.
Prerequisites
- Your school district must have KyberGate with the Parent Portal enabled
- An invite code from your school (sent via email or text)
- An iPhone running iOS 15 or later
- Your child must have a managed device enrolled in KyberGate
Steps
Step 1: Get Your Invite Code
Your school will send you a 6-digit alphanumeric invite code (e.g., "KG-4X7R9P") via email, text, or a letter sent home with your child. If you haven't received one, contact your school's front office or IT department.
Step 2: Download the App
Search for "KyberGate Parent" in the Apple App Store and download it. The app is free.
Step 3: Create Your Account
Open the app and tap Get Started. Sign up with email/password, Google, or Apple.
Step 4: Enter the Invite Code
Tap Link a Student and enter the invite code from your school.
Step 5: Verify Your Identity
You may need to confirm your email address or answer a security question set by the school.
Step 6: Select Your Child
If you have multiple children in the district, select the child whose device you want to monitor. You can add multiple children.
Step 7: Explore the Dashboard
Your child's dashboard shows:
- Activity Feed — recent websites visited
- Screen Time — daily usage chart
- Device Status — online/offline, battery, location
- Safety Alerts — flagged content or searches
- Quick Actions — Pause Internet, Block a Site, Find Device
Tips
- Link multiple children to one account — switch between profiles at the top of the app
- Activity data shows school device browsing only — personal devices are not monitored
- Enable push notifications in iPhone Settings for safety alerts
- Pull down on the activity feed to refresh manually

Q: Is the app really free? A: Yes. No subscriptions, in-app purchases, or hidden costs.
Q: What if I don't have an iPhone? A: An Android version is coming. Use the web portal at parent.kybergate.com in the meantime.
Q: Can both parents have the app? A: Yes. Each parent creates their own account and links using the same invite code.
